NaI(Tl) Scintillation Crystal
Thallium-doped sodium iodide (or NaI(Tl)) crystal scintillator has a very high luminescence (scintillation) efficiency and is available in a wide variety of sizes and geometries that makes it the most widely used scintillator. NaI(Tl) produces one of the highest signals in a PMT per amount of radiation absorbed.
Application
1 ) Environmental monitoring
2 ) Oil and gas exploration – well logging
3 ) Nuclear physics
4 ) Industrial – Thickness or density gauging, coal / mineral assy
Features
1 ) High light output
2 ) No significant self absorption of scintillation light
3 ) Emission spectrum well matched with the sensitivity curve of photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) with bialkali photocathodes
4 ) Available in single crystal & polycrystalline form
